The Ship Bottom Land Use Board is expected to hear an application this month to turn the vacant site of a former scooter store on 24th Street into a mixed-use structure with a fitness center as the focal point.

Laracca Estates, based in Whippany, is the applicant. The limited liability company is proposing to redevelop the one-story building by renovating the current structure and adding a second story, which would double as part of a fitness center and as a single-family apartment.
