Beginning this December, a grant of nearly $700,000 will give Stockton University faculty members, staff and students a unique opportunity to examine a local population of harbor seals via a first-ever satellite tagging operation. Stockton personnel will work alongside tagging experts from the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society for this three-year, $682,890 grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection Research and Monitoring Initiative.

Harbor seals have a regular seasonal home in southern New Jersey – which may come as a surprise to some.
