The Grunin Center for the Arts will cover a lot of bases at the beginning of November.

There will be a spectacular magic show, a piano recital, a jazz band, and a motivational speaker.

At 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1 magician David Caserta will perform a show called “Haunted Illusions.”

“Treat your family to an evening of mind blowing magic and comedy that gets the whole audience into the act,” said the show’s publicist. “You’ll be stunned and amazed as master illusionist David Caserta has people levitating, disappearing, and reappearing right before your eyes. You will witness never-before-seen illusions that have been created just for this show.”

Caserta has appeared on TV shows such as “America’s Got Talent” and “Penn and Teller: Fool Us,” where he didn’t saw a woman in half, but instead sawed himself in half, employing state-of-the-art lighting and a huge industrial-sized set. He’s performed over 10,000 shows over the course of 20 years.

Tickets for his Grunin Center main stage production are $46 for the orchestra and $42 for the mezzanine. They may be purchased online at grunincenter.org, as can tickets for the other events below.

The piano recital by Margarita Rovenskaya on Nov. 6 as part of the center’s Afternoon Recital Series is already sold out. However, tickets remain available for the “Armstrong Hot Five Centennial Celebration” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8. Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors and $17 for students.

Between 1925 and 1928, Louis Armstrong made a series of influential recordings with a studio group, the Hot Five, that changed the face of jazz to come. To pay tribute to these legendary sessions, Jazz on a Sunday Afternoon will welcome the dynamic trumpeter and recent Juilliard graduate Andrew Stephens, along with a small group made up of New York’s finest traditional jazz musicians.

Finally, at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, retired U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills will speak as part of the Blauvelt Speaker Series.

Mills is a recalibrated warrior, motivational speaker, actor, author, and advocate for veterans and amputees. His New York Times bestselling memoir, Tough as They Come, is currently available for sale at bookstores everywhere. Despite losing portions of both arms and legs from an IED while on duty in Afghanistan, Mills continues to overcome life’s challenges, breaking physical barriers and defying odds.

Tickets for this main stage lecture are free, and it will be made virtually available as well. For either option, visit grunincenter.org.
