A pair of former pitchers from local high school baseball programs are chugging through their minor league assignments this summer, even though both have had their ups and downs.
Former Barnegat High School ace Jay Groome, who was drafted in the first round by the Boston Red Sox right out of high school in 2016, is in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League with the El Paso Chihuahuas and has shown flashes of brilliance this season.
