Hello readers: I’m so excited to introduce a new column in The SandPaper for summer 2026 called “Still Standing.” As a longtime admirer of the vintage homes that dot Long Beach Island – and the lucky owner of two – this idea came to life after watching one old house after another torn down.
It’s no secret the Island’s appearance is rapidly changing, with huge homes springing up along its 18 miles.
