We live in a day and age of extremes. On our wonderful island we have had numerous and more recent bouts of extreme weather. The nor’easter wreaked havoc with days of rain, high winds, beach erosion and flooding. Cars were stranded, the Causeway closed, and debris littered our yards and floated down our streets.

2026 was the hottest July ever recorded globally, evidenced by summer heat domes and strong storms with intense winds. Surf City Yacht Club clocked wind speeds of 84 mph this summer.
