To the Editor:
Each year we face a scarcity of lifeguards on LBI, which seems to be a problem everywhere. We used to have guards visit the Island from Australia, but since COVID or before they’ve stopped coming. The lack of guards becomes worse around the middle of August when they return to school. Some beaches shut down completely while others have only one guard on the bench.
