Last summer, as her senior year approached, Liz Chartier had a huge decision to make.

“My mom took a job in Florida and I had to choose whether to go there or stay here with my dad,” said the Southern Regional senior running star whose parents are divorced. “It was the hardest decision of my life.”

The biggest tug on Liz’s heart came from the fact she was going to be separated from her sister, Caitlyn, who was headed for her freshman year of high school.

“I was really looking forward to having my sister with me in high school for a year,” she said.
