Calmly strolling the Ocean Acres Elementary School hallways in his cool, gray suit on Feb. 1, Lucas Cunliffe did his best to look authoritative, a walkie-talkie in hand.

“Good morning, Mr. Cunliffe!” one young lady said as she walked through the hall in the opposite direction.

“How are you today, Mr. Cunliffe?” questioned another student.

“Have a good day, Mr. Cunliffe!” one of the teachers offered.

At times, he maintained an aloof glare. Other times, he showed a pleasantly casual smile. A wave here.
