To the Editor:

First, an apology – I was driving to Beach Haven Sunday morning and was slow to notice a woman and her dog just reaching the corner to cross Long Beach Boulevard. I could have stopped with a lot of braking, but did not. My bad.

Returning after my errand, I did stop for two waiting bicyclists, but they instead waved me on. They preferred to make their mad dash later, without trusting bike and limb to drivers who might or might not be paying attention.
