To the Editor:

As a long-term bayfront homeowner who continues to be affected by increased flooding, I had a recent conversation with a neighbor who shared that he just received an estimate for a new bulkhead for his home that was priced at $70,000. He said the cost was so high because of the new bulkhead height requirements that have increased bulkheads on the bayfront to 7 feet.

I became interested in finding out how the requirements were created and what the effect would be to minimize flooding damage.
