To the Editor:
I have resided on LBI for more than 71 years. I am third generation here, and my Uncle Ange Leonetti was Long Beach Township chief of police, killed in the line of duty during the Nor’easter of ’62.
I can remember my Uncle Ange being so proud of the new Causeway when it was completed in 1958. He would call the state any time one of the bulbs was out, on what was then the very modern lighting system placed in the guardrails of the bridge, to have the bulb replaced.
