For Beach Haven Beach Patrol Chief Meghan Marro, the summer of 2023 was unlike no other season.

Not only did Marro have to get her whole lifeguard staff organized, but she had to prepare for the birth of her first child. Gwyneth Marro Skelly entered the world on July 22, weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces.

“I worked on the beach doing all my chief duties until in my 39th week of pregnancy,” Marro said. “I stayed home for two weeks after birth, then was able to return to work because of the help from both grandmas and families with babysitting.
