As the sun began to set Oct. 18, casting a faint, orange glow behind the thick cumulus clouds rolling in, Ella Brown walked off the Southern Regional tennis courts for the final time. Four years under coach Howard Madsen had come to an end with another victory.
“He’s been a great coach. He’s a great guy and I’m going to miss him,” said Brown, after she knocked off Jackson Memorial’s Natalie Pearce, 6-2, 6-2, at second singles to help lead the Rams to a 3½-1½ victory.
