To the Editor:

As a Ship Bottom homeowner concerned about the fate of the LBI Grade School property, I attended the Sept. 20 school board meeting. Declining school population and the board’s contention that students will benefit have been cited as a reason to combine LBI and E.J. schools.

Not knowing the actual enrollment numbers, I went online to do some research. I discovered that in addition to having fewer than 110 students per school, both schools have excellent student/teacher ratios.
