A bill co-sponsored by state Sen. Carmen F. Amato Jr. (R-9th) facilitating the disposition and proper burial of unclaimed veteran remains was signed into law by then-Gov. Phil Murphy as one of his final acts before leaving office.
It was a bipartisan piece of legislation, passing unanimously in both legislative chambers.
