I don’t remember exactly who said it recently – I’m sure there were several folks who mentioned, both out loud and on social media – “100 days until Memorial Day.”
The phrase isn’t new. It goes back decades, maybe longer. Our country started celebrating Memorial Day to honor those who lost their lives in the American Civil War, but it wasn’t a three-day-weekend-beach-occasion until the ’70s.
