Winners Come From Far and Near as Sailing Championships Flood the Bay

Following their overall victory at the C420 U.S. National Championship, Peter Herlihy and Finn Sperry posed for a group photo with their clubmates. Seconds later, playful shoves sent them tumbling into the bay’s chilly currents.

“This was our first national regatta, so we weren’t expecting to do too well,” Herlihy said, soaked and shivering after climbing out of the misty bay. “We’ve never sailed in New Jersey, so we didn’t know much about the venue.
