That was an excellent letter from Rich Brodman about sustaining our first responders (“Urgent Call for Help,” 7/23). However, there is one very important additional point: If all the police departments on the Island were merged and properly sized the savings would pay for two full-time fire companies (one north, one south) as well as two EMT companies, with change left over.
