For some, it’s a rite of passage to play mini golf in one of the weekly tournaments on Long Beach Island during the summer. Take Todd Foster for example. The man visits from Scottsdale, Ariz., for several weeks and can’t keep himself away from several of the courses.

“Long Beach Island’s mini golf tournaments are one-of-a-kind,” said Foster, who routinely competes in the tournaments at Hartland Golf and Flamingo Golf, both in Ship Bottom.
