Please allow me to express my appreciation for your in-depth article last week on the training, skills and mindset of the U.S. Coast Guard heavy weather surfmen who stand prepared and always ready to risk their lives to save others.
As the grandson of a Potomac River waterman and myself a lifelong boater with over 70 years on the water, I have long admired the service the men and women of the USCG render to our country and those who find themselves in peril out on the water.
