To the Editor:
I am writing in support and agreement with resident Claire Edelstein’s remarks at the Feb. 4 Barnegat Township Committee meeting (“Heated Debate Marks Opening of Town Hall,” 2/21).
Edelstein called out Barnegat Township Mayor Alfonso Cirulli, who violated the separation of church and state in his New Year’s Day speech. Although Mayor Cirulli has the First Amendment right to express his beliefs, those expressions should be made as a private citizen.
