To the Editor:
The summer is just starting and there has already been a near fatality in New Jersey when a lifeguard in Asbury Park was impaled on a beach umbrella.
Last summer we were warned to take down our Shibumi beach shade since they are not permitted in Long Beach Township. Such is not the case for other towns on LBI. I wrote to the mayor and asked for the logic in such legislation and got the following short and unsatisfactory reply.
