In a move to protect Surf City and uphold property values, the borough council last week adopted three ordinances to limit state overreach that would impose unwanted developments and undermine local zoning control, even as it cannot completely buck efforts of taxation without representation.

“This is our state. This is the state we live in,” Mayor Francis Hodgson said at the council’s March 11 meeting, where three public hearings were held on individual measures related to affordable housing.
