To the Editor:
I confess that I need AC to sleep on the hottest days of summer. My electric bill for one summer month in 2024 was $700. With a 20% proposed increase, that means in the summer 2025 it will be $840 for the hottest month. This is much higher than my Social Security increase, and 20% will drive up the cost of goods since business as well will be paying this increase. I guess this means eggs go up again.
Maybe chickens don’t need AC, but I’m sure ShopRite does. Electric rates are a key driver of inflation.
