To the Editor:

My father, John Francis Harvey, was a man of resilience, dedication and unwavering commitment. Like many fathers and grandfathers, he served in World War II, joining the U.S. Army at just 17. He fought in the Pacific, surviving harrowing battles that claimed the lives of many of his fellow soldiers.
