While the Long Beach Island Commemorative 18 Mile Run has been part of the Island’s fabric for more than five decades and is one of the biggest events of the fall, the annual tradition is taking a back seat to a nor’easter forecast for this Columbus Day weekend.
Shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, race officials canceled the 18-mile race and its companion 12K race scheduled for Sunday.
