To the Editor:

There are people in the U.S. who want Americans to be afraid of new viruses and bacterial infections that have appeared over the last 35 years or so. Unfortunately, a crucial factor is almost always omitted from the list of reasons for this. There can be no rational discussion about the appearance of new pathogens without discussing the presence of bioweapons laboratories where people experiment with and create new viruses as well as deadly bacteria.

The employees of bioweapons labs are working on what is called “gain-of-function” research.
