At its Tuesday morning meeting on April 7, the Barnegat Township Committee adopted a municipal budget of $37,259,261 for 2026, approximately $1.8 million higher than what was spent last year.

Thomas Lombarski, chief financial officer, said the municipal purpose tax rate (not including schools and county) went up 1.97 cents per $100 assessed value. He said as a result, the owner of a home assessed at the township average of $275,000 would see a $54 increase for the year.
