It was a cupcake kind of day for the Barnegat girls basketball team on Jan. 3. No, the Bengals didn’t have a New Year’s bash. It was head coach Tammy Nicolini’s birthday.
“We had to do something special,” said senior Riley Fitzpatrick, who lit up the scoreboard for 21 points as she and her teammates routed Raritan, 75-35, to go undefeated through five games for the first time in the program’s history.
