Barnegat Township will hold a commemoration marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11 on Friday, Sept. 11, beginning at 8 a.m. outside the municipal building on West Bay Avenue.
Deputy Mayor Fred Rubenstein, who is event coordinator, said the keynote speaker will be Brigadier Gen. Lawrence S. Thomas III, chief of staff of the New Jersey Air National Guard at Joint Base McGuire/Fort Dix/Lakehurst. Following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, he flew F-16 contingency missions over New York City, Washington and Camp David.
