I have been on the Ship Bottom Land Use Board for over 10 years and never have I seen anything like this. The mayor and council agreed to redevelopment plan with a developer to put homes and some open space where the Ship Bottom School currently is. The developer would get the parcel rezoned for housing and Ship Bottom would get six lots or 30,000 square feet of open space. The mayor and council then decided and approved the purchase of six additional lots for $3.5 million.
