The Melges 15 is the fastest growing class of sailboat in the United States right now, and this year its national championship regatta will be contested on Long Beach Island.
After several years of the M15 being the dominant class in the annual Down Bay Regatta, the boat’s big race is slated to make its LBI debut Oct. 3-5 at Brant Beach Yacht Club. As of earlier this week, the entry list had seven duos on it, including local M15 master Clay Johnson.
