When he was a general contractor, Michael Mercadante liked to keep up with trends and issues in the construction trade by reading journals and other materials. He found there were big concerns nationwide about mold infestation and how it was developing into a major health issue across the continent.

Fifteen years ago, that led him to establish Dependable Environmental Protection, located at North Main St. (Route 9) in Manahawkin.
